BRANNON STEEL welcomes Prime Minister Stephen Harper
March 17, 2011 – BRANNON STEEL is proud to have welcomed the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, and the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development to its Brampton, Ontario manufacturing facility.
The Prime Minister tried his hand at one of BRANNON STEEL’s plate rolling stations while employees and members of the media looked on. Later, Mr. Harper and Ms. Finley toured the facility accompanied by company Chairman Al Brannon and Vice-President of Operations Kevin Brannon. The Prime Minister and the Minister spoke with employees as they visited various departments and generously gave their time for a number of photographs.
As stated on the Prime Minister’s website, his visit highlighted BRANNON STEEL’s successful participation in the government’s work-sharing program during the recession and subsequent return to profitability and high demand for its products and services. Click here to read more.

BRANNON STEEL expands saw cutting capabilities
March 7, 2011 – BRANNON STEEL is in the final stages of setup and testing for its new HydMech VW18-II semi-automatic vertical band saw.
The new saw not only expands BRANNON STEEL’s overall cutting capacity but also provides greater flexibility for complex angle cuts and increased output through automation.
The Brampton, Ontario-based company has seen steady growth in demand for saw cutting since introducing the service in 2008.

BRANNON STEEL raises over $6,000 for Movember
December 1, 2010 – BRANNON STEEL is pleased to have raised over $6,000 to help fight prostate cancer and would like to thank all the family, friends and partners who donated so generously.
"Movember's a fun way to raise money and awareness for a serious issue." said company president Kirk Brannon. "This was our first year participating in Movember as a group but we all agree that it'll be an annual tradition from now on."

BRANNON STEEL helps change the face men’s health
November 2, 2010 – Employees at BRANNON STEEL are helping to change the face of men’s health by growing a moustache for Movember.
Movember, a combination of ‘Mo’ (slang for moustache) and November, began in Australia in 2003 and has since grown to include over 255,000 participants from countries around the world. Last year in Canada alone, over 35,000 participants raised $7.8 million to help fund research, new screening tests, treatment options and support for prostate cancer survivors.
Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer among men accounting for over a quarter of new cases. One in six Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and the threat is greater for those with a family history of the disease.

BRANNON STEEL makes green investment
October 11, 2010 – BRANNON STEEL is undergoing upgrades designed to conserve energy and reduce waste at its Brampton, Ontario manufacturing facilities.
The project includes a variety of measures such as installing presence-sensing light control devices, upgrading office and plant lighting with high-efficiency T5 bulbs and ballasts, replacing restroom paper towels with energy-efficient hand dryers and installing power correction capacitors in production machines and equipment.
Already well underway, these upgrades will result in a significant reduction in energy use and are expected to provide return on investment in under 2 years. Additional savings will be realized through reduced maintenance/replacement costs and government incentive programs.
The project is being completed in partnership with Cambridge-based energy management firm VeriGreen Inc.

BRANNON STEEL expands laser cutting capabilities
September 7, 2010 – BRANNON STEEL recently finalized the purchase of a new Prima Industrie Platino laser machining centre.
The privately-held company introduced laser cutting to its service offerings in early 2007 and has seen a steady increase in demand ever since.
The new machine is expected to be fully operational by mid-October and sales staff are already reporting a great deal of interest in the expanded capacity.

BRANNON STEEL appoints Kirk Brannon as President
June 1, 2010 - BRANNON STEEL is pleased to announce the appointment of Kirk Brannon as President.
The appointment took effect on January 13 and the formal announcement was made to staff at the annual ‘state of the company’ address in early February. “I’m proud to be assuming the leadership of BRANNON STEEL at this time” Kirk told employees during the town hall style meetings. “The months ahead will be challenging as the global economy continues to recover from recession but I’m excited about the opportunities on our horizon”.
Commenting on BRANNON STEEL’s direction for 2010-2011, Kirk stated that the privately held company will be taking steps to strengthen it’s reputation in the industry as well as developing new business. “We will continue to provide our customers with the high level of quality and service they’ve come to expect from BRANNON STEEL as we actively pursue new markets throughout North America.”
Kirk joined BRANNON STEEL in 1988 and served as the company’s Vice-President of Sales and Marketing prior to his appointment.
Outgoing President Greg Kallies will remain with the company indefinitely in an advisory capacity and will continue his relationships with a number of BRANNON STEEL’s customers.

BRANNON STEEL celebrates 40 years
BRANNON STEEL celebrated its 40th anniversary with a carnival at its Brampton, Ontario facility.
Held on April 27, 2008, the event featured a barbeque, children's entertainers, a variety of carnival games and food and a photographic history of the company since it's earliest days.
"Since BRANNON STEEL was founded in 1968, our employees and the 'family' atmosphere we foster have been integral to our success." said Chairman Al Brannon. "This celebration is a fun way to mark our 40th anniversary and to show our employees how much we appreciate them. We're also proud to let our employees' families get a first-hand look at our recently completed expansion."
In October 2007, BRANNON STEEL officially opened an 80,000 square foot expansion to its Brampton, Ontario production facilities.

BRANNON STEEL opens $10 million expansion
BRANNON STEEL has made a $10 million investment in its Brampton plant on Tilbury Court, adding 80,000 square feet of production and office space.
Pictured from left to right, Brampton Board of Trade Past President Wayne Waters, Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell, company Chairman Al Brannon and Regional Councillor John Sanderson were on hand for the official opening October 23.
The new facility includes 70,000 square feet of warehouse and production space and 10,000 square feet of office space. The expansion comes on the eve of the company’s 40th anniversary in April 2008.
“We're expanding to meet changing needs and new opportunities in the marketplace.” said Chairman Al Brannon. “We've outgrown our current space and are looking to the future.”
Brannon praised employees at the plant and the 'family' atmosphere that has been a significant contributor to the company’s success.

The company has expanded its operation to facilitate the production of large rolled plate sections used in wind towers and storage tanks, a growing market across North America.
